Most Tyrannosaurus depictions have lips of some sort. But the discovery of Daspletosaurus horneri changes that. A set of sensory scales on its face like crocodilians(Crocodiles don't have scales on there face)have preserved on the face of a skull of a new species of Daspletosaurus. D. horneri's sensory scales extended all the way to the tooth row.

Sensory scales are used by crocodilians and few species of birds to detect prey in the water, perhaps Daspletosaurus was a part-time aquatic hunter when other foods were scarce.
