Gorgonops and others of its kind are not mammal-like reptiles. They possess characteristics far more similar to pure mammals like serrated teeth and flexible joints. A more accurate name to call these animals would be “Proto-mammals” or “stem-mammals”.
Paleo fact: To avoid competition with the much larger Torvosaurus and Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus evolved an aquatic diet. As fossils of Ceratosaurus have been commonly found with fossilized fish in their stomachs.

Most Tyrannosaurus depictions have lips of some sort. But the discovery of Daspletosaurus horneri changes that. A set of sensory scales on its face like crocodilians(Crocodiles don't have scales on there face)have preserved on the face of a skull of a new species of Daspletosaurus. D. horneri's sensory scales extended all the way to the tooth row.
Quick Trivia: Wuerhosaurus was the last existing species of the order of stegosauria. Existing in the early Cretaceous, the species would eventually go extinct to competition with the more armored ankylosaurs.
Theropod dinosaurs are often depicted in pop-culture to have visible skull orbits on their heads to look more scary. However, skull orbits would only appear if a creature was starving. Which the dinosaurs in our favorite movies and toy-lines aren’t. Sorry 80’s fans!
I was a huge feather nazi back then. And now I finally learned to accept the truth about Tyrannosauridea. https://t.rex/ and other Tyrannosauridae where most likely scaly and lacked feathers. If they did have feathers, elephant like integument or what I call "peach fuzz" is as fluffy as you can get.
